Tahoe Bike

IMAGINE FRIENDLY BICYCLING IN TAHOE – WE DO.

Members of the Lake Tahoe Bicycle Coalition envision a Lake Tahoe region that is safe and friendly for bicyclists to ride around the lake on a connected network of bikeways. They see a bicycle friendly community as an immediate and practical way to help build a healthy and sustainable community where people, economy and environment are all equally valued and integrated into the long range planning for the region.
And, Bike Coalition members get things done. Since its early beginning in November 2005, the Coalition has accomplished much. Below are some of the highlights in just the first two years:

  • Instrumental in getting the City of South Lake Tahoe nationally designated as a Bicycle Friendly Community by the League of American Bicyclists
  • Produced and distributed 5,000 membership brochures throughout the region
  • Produced and distributed 40,000 Lake Tahoe Bike Trail Maps (2007 Edition)throughout the region
  • Built and launched www.tahoebike.org for residents and visitors to the region
  • Produced the Lake Tahoe Bicycle Symposium in conjunction with Nevada Department of Transportation
  • Co-produced the Lake Tahoe Bicycle Film Festival
  • Co-produced the Tahoe/Reno International Film Festival
  • Regularly make presentations to service organizations, nonprofit environmental groups, governmental agencies, and conferences about the value of bicycling in the community
  • Continually participate in transportation planning meetings (locally & regionally) to ensure the needs of bicyclists are being met
  • And, more projects, events and products are being planned
