Bike Coalition Receives Grant to Create Online Bike Map

The Bike Coalition was awarded at $10,000 grant from the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency’s (TRPA) On Our Way Small Grants Program. The grant will fund the development of an interactive, online bike map for the Tahoe region.

The online bike map will replace the Bike Coalition’s current online version of its Bikeways Map – a static map, posted as a PDF at tahoebike.org. The updated map will be accessible via computer or mobile device, allow trip planning based on destination, most direct route, and facility type (bike path versus bike lane), and allow cyclists to report unsafe conditions, accidents/incidents, bike parking needs, as well as request infrastructure improvements. The TRPA and the Bike Coalition are releasing a request for proposals (RFP) for qualified consultants to apply.

Please visit this page to learn more and to review the RFP. We’re hoping the local developers will be interested in submitting applications to help us design our interactive bike map!

The City of South Lake Tahoe also received a TRPA On Our Way Small Grant for bike planning. The Viking Way to South Wye Connector project will fund preliminary studies for a Class 1 bike trail and multi‐use path serving as connection between the City and the County of El Dorado by extending the Lake Tahoe Boulevard Bike Trail at the Intersection of Viking Way to the Intersection of US Hwy 50 and State Hwy 89 (the “Wye”).
